Waves for Water W4W Docker / “Peru”

Caruso Company produced a short documentary film in Peru for Waves For Water, directed by Tyler Manson. The film follows founder Jon Rose and the team as they travel into remote communities in the Andes, delivering water filtration systems to areas without reliable access to clean drinking water.

The piece is built around Jon’s voiceover, drawn from conversations captured during the trip. His perspective provides context for both the organization’s mission and the realities on the ground—focusing on the challenges of reaching isolated villages and the importance of working in places that are often overlooked.

Production took place in high-altitude regions of the Peruvian Andes, where access is limited and travel is primarily on foot. The crew documented multi-day hikes across steep terrain, capturing both the physical demands of the journey and the environments these communities navigate daily. Locations include small villages situated along narrow mountain paths, often several days from the nearest road.

The visual approach is observational, with an emphasis on documenting the process as it unfolds—travel, distribution of filters, and interaction with local residents. Rather than staging moments, the film focuses on capturing real conditions and the pace of the work. Natural light and environmental elements, including heat, elevation, and terrain, play a significant role in shaping the look of the piece.
